Herkimer Industries Helps Sewing Up Timeline for Haiti Donation
President and CEO Hugh Jones of Energy Masters, LLC, of Canastota, NY, counted on a very quick turnaround by Herkimer Industries (HI)—which has been supporting the company with contract services for their renewable energy products—to put the finishing touches on a solar panels donation bound for Haiti.
HI’s Industrial Sewing Service came through in two days so the portable panels could be transported to Haiti by plane to help power batteries, which support LED lighting in medical tents and run pumps for water purification units. HI assisted Energy Masters by finishing edges and sewing a hook and loop Velcro system to the donation of eight STAR (Solar Tactical Advanced Rechargers), valued at $15,000, to assist with medical and relief efforts for earthquake victims.
Energy Masters CEO Hugh Jones, explained, “The work that Herkimer Industries does is top notch. They actually listen to their customers, which is unusual in today’s manufacturing market. HI also came through for us on a project having tight timelines—a testimony to their diligence and get-the-job-done attitude. I don’t get excuses from HI—I get results,” he said.
“We were so pleased to be working with Energy Masters and to assist with finishing production for this donation,” said HARC Director of Industrial Operations Mike Lamb. “Not only is Energy Masters a company on the forefront of solar panel technology and deployable energy all-in-one systems, Hugh and Tanya Jones and their staff are also great humanitarians. HI was very proud to be part of assisting Energy Masters with this special donation.”
With a workforce of nearly 150 reliable workers, comprised of individuals with disabilities supported by non-disabled employees, Herkimer Industries has been providing competitive subcontracting services and industrial sewing services throughout the United States since 1973.
